EasyTank - Oil Tanks

Atlantis’ EasyTank oil tanks are versatile liquid containers, capable of storing a multitude of oil and fuel types including waste oil, heating oil, diesel, kerosene, water and more. These tanks are available in a variety of configurations such as plastic bunded, steel bunded and single skin.

What Is The Difference Between Steel And Plastic Oil Tanks?

While in the majority of oil storage applications either steel or plastic tanks can be used, their properties do make differ slightly in practicality. For example, although steel tanks are stronger and more secure from the potential threat of oil theft, they are also not as easy to transport and install as plastic tanks due to their heavy weight.

While the risk is exceedingly small, steel tanks can be prone to rust while this is not an issue for plastic tanks. Another advantage of plastic is that due to the fact the material is an insulator, external heat will take longer to infiltrate the oil inside than it would in a steel tank.

Is A Leaking Oil Tank Dangerous?

While oil generally has a low toxicity level to humans, if it leaks out of a tank and infiltrates nearby soil it can poison it, as well as groundwater and potentially local wildlife. Prolonged exposure can begin to cause slightly more serious health problems for humans. Due to all of these problems that leaking oil can lead to, it is important to get a leaking oil tank repaired as soon as possible.
