We offer 3 types of electric underfloor heating systems: Sticky Mat, Loose Cable and Foil Mat. All of them use the highest quality ultra-thin heating cable from Fastwarm®. The Sticky Mat system consists of pre-spaced heating elements on a self-adhesive mesh, making it easy to install. The Loose Cable system is ideal for irregular-shaped rooms, as you can adjust the spacing of the heating elements to fit the area. The Foil Mat system is designed for floating floor finishes, such as laminates and engineered wood flooring, as it provides even heat distribution under the floor surface.
Sticky Mats are designed to make installations easier with heating elements already spaced out and ready to lay. They have 3 power outputs per square metre: 200W, 150W, and 100W, allowing them to be used as either a sole or supplementary heat source. Sticky Mats are typically used under tiled or stone floors; however, when installed within a levelling compound, the 150w system can be used under a wide range of floor coverings, including laminate (floated), engineered wood (floated or glued T&G), carpets with underlay (max tog 2.5 combined), lino, vinyl (LVT).
Our Loose Cable systems are ideal for awkwardly shaped areas, such as bathrooms. When laying the system, the output is determined by the spacing between the cables: 50mm (200W), 65mm (150W), and 100mm (100W). The Loose Cable system is best used under stone/tiled floor finishes, however, when the power output is 150W, the system can be covered with a 10mm bed of levelling compound and therefore can accommodate a wide variety of floor coverings, such as laminate (floated), engineered wood (floated or glued T&G), carpets with underlay (max tog 2.5 combined), lino, vinyl (LVT).
Foil Heating Systems use a twin conductor cable enclosed in foil matting. They have a power output of 140W per square meter, ideal for floating floor finishes such as laminates (floated) and engineered wood flooring (floated or glued T&G). They can also be used beneath the vinyl (LVT), linos and low-tog carpets (2.0 Tog max.) when covered with our HeatPak Dual Overlay.
Electric underfloor heating is especially suitable for small to medium-sized rooms up to 20-25 square metres, renovations or retrofits where minimal floor disturbance is required, rooms with irregular shapes or hard-to-reach areas, and rooms with wooden or laminate floors.
Electric underfloor heating is a comfortable and efficient way to warm your floors and rooms, as it is suitable for any structural substrate and most floor coverings. However, it may not be the best choice for large rooms or entire properties, where water-based systems may provide greater energy savings and lower operating costs.
Installing electric underfloor heating is simple and straightforward, as it requires minimal disturbance and disruption to your existing floor. Our systems use a 2mm Teflon-coated multi-strand conductor, which is installed beneath the floor finish. This means that you don’t need to dig out your subfloor or raise your floor levels significantly.
We provide downloadable full instruction manuals so that you can easily follow the steps and complete the installation yourself. However, you will need a qualified electrician to connect your heating cable to your property’s electrical circuit to comply with UK building regulations.
