Garden Shed Installation Guide

While these sheds can be assembled by a competent DIY enthusiast, we recommend having two people with moderate DIY skills to ensure a smooth and efficient garden shed installation process.

Tools and Accessories You'll Need

To complete the installation, you will need the following tools and accessories:

• Powered drill and screwdriver (or combi drill-driver)
• Pozidrive PZ2 or PZ1 screwdriver bits
• Flat head screwdriver
• Metric drill bits (2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm)
• Metric tape measure
• Spirit level
• Claw hammer
• Craft knife or scissors (for cutting roof felt)
• Step ladder
• Mastic sealant and applicator (optional)

Building the Shed

1. Prepare and Assemble the Floor: Depending on the model, this may involve nailing floor sheets to bearers or screwing floor sheets together.
2. Locate and Secure Wall and Door Panels: Position the wall and door panels around the perimeter of the floor, screwing each panel to the next. Ensure the panels are aligned correctly and then secure them to the floor.
3. Hang the Door(s) and Install the Window(s): Follow the provided instructions to hang the door(s) and install the windows.
4. Assemble and Secure the Roof: Position and secure the roof panels to the shed's frame, as per the instructions.
5. Apply the Roof Felt: Carefully cut and lay the roof felt, ensuring a 50mm overhang at the edges and overlapping each subsequent sheet. Secure the felt using the provided felt tacks, taking care to avoid single-layer sections.
6. Finishing Touches: Install the remaining components, such as the door hasp and staple, corner strips, barge boards, and finial, following the instructions.

Shed Base Preparation

It is important to have a suitable, level base for your shed to ensure proper alignment and functionality. We have a wide range of timber shed bases available on our site, or you can create a concrete slab or paved base on a levelled bed of sharp sand or hardcore.

When selecting a location for your shed, consider factors such as proximity to trees or overhanging branches, which can cause leaf and debris buildup on the roof and potential damage. Additionally, ensure the shed is positioned in a way that allows for the desired door and window orientation.
